Shannon Bradshaw Fund Raising Match

The fund raising children's match in aid of the Shannon Bradshaw trust took place on the 27th of May on Sankey Valley park which was organised by Dallam and District Community Angling Group. As the match prevailed with the thirty four entries the children had a task in front of them as the weather changed to horrendous conditions but they all braved this out and fished until the end.

 

1st place was fourteen years old Jack Impey who weighed in at 2lb 8oz,  2nd place went to fifteen years old John Andrews who weighed in at 1lb 13oz,  3rd place was fifteen years old James Laithwaite who weighed in at 1lb 7oz.
In the intermediate section 1st place went to sixteen years old Arron Brown who netted
1lb 10oz,  2nd place was Rick Chung age seventeen with 8oz 2 grams, 3rd place was seventeen years old Jamie Hirst who netted 2oz.
A big thank you to all the sponsors who donated the presentation gifts and also Helen Dagnall and her mother Dot from Cheshire Angling and the stronger together group also from Warrington. A cheque for four hundred pounds from the Dallam and District Community Angling Group was donated to Pat Bradshaw. Sankey   Valley   Canal

 

first Match at the start of the year was fished on the sankey canal today, on the 5th January 2008 by nine competitors. All fishing members caught small fish and stocked up their weights with punch bread.  First place went to the Match Secretary, Harry Morris, who had over 100 fish for 2lb 13oz 9dr. Second place was won by Jimmy Harris who had 2lb 11oz 6dr and  third place was won by Ray Bowden with 2lb 1oz.  The match was a very close weigh in as this reflects on weigh in weight. and definatly was Tight lines today.

 

Another great days fishing 8th Jan 2008

 

Todays match was fished in Sankey   Valley   Park in a very bad wind between pegs 61 up.  Harry Morris won the match with 4lb on small punch at 8 metres and had an all roach catch,  second place went to Jimmy Harris with 2lb 8oz,  third place went to Barry Holbrook with 1lb 6oz.  The next match for pensioners and disabled will be on Tuesday 15th January 2008 at Waterways Car park meeting at  for draw. Fresh Pegs After the floods 15th January 2008

 

Tuesday the 15th January 2008 Pensioners and Disabled Match was fished on pegs 34 up on the Sankey Canal, all competitors had over two pounds of small fish to punch bread and squat. The winning weight went to Keith Algie with 4lb 3oz of Roach and Skimmers, second place went to Harry Morris who had 3lb 9oz, third place went to Jimmy Harris with a close 3lb 8oz.  The Canal is fishing very well for this time of year, anybody wishing to fish the Saturday match will have to book in with the Match Secretary Harry Morris on 01925266914.   (you must be a member to fish these matches),   licences checked regularly at random.  Tight Lines,  Harry Morris       <'))))))><

 

 

Saturday Storm 19th January 2008

 

Saturday the 19th January 2008.  Todays match was fished in very bad weather with the water a chocolate colour and the River Atherton bursting it's banks into  the Sankey Canal at Bewsey pushing the flood water through, but the match went ahead as planned. The match winner went to Martin Griffiths who fished well on peg 40 with a winning weight of 3lb 2oz,  second place went to Ste Lewis on peg 48 with a mixed net for a weight 2lb 4oz 9dr, third place was taken by Magnum with a  weight 1lb 15oz on 54,  all competitors caught fish in the first hour and then the flood water wiped us all out, but still a good match.  Next match to be fished will be on Saturday 2nd February 2008, please be sure to book in.  Tight lines  Match Secretary   Harry Morris.

 

 

Tuesday 29th January 2008 

Todays match Tuesday 29th January was fished in the wood length of Bewsey on pegs 8 to 18.  Everybody had a good catch of Roach and Skimmers, Roach to 10oz and Skimmers to 1lb. The winning weight went to Eddie Cook with 7lb 15oz 7dr of Quality Roach, caught on pellet and bread, Second place went to Keith Algie with 5lb 2oz 6dr, third place went to Harry Morris with 4lb 9oz 6dr.The next Disabled and Pensioners match will be Tuesday 5th February 2008, draw at Bewsey Bridge, 10am, fishing pegs 34 up, places must be booked.  Saturday Very Cold 2nd Febuary 2008          

  

 With the weather turning for the worse and the temperature plummeting below zero the match weight results was reflected with low weights.  First place went to Martin Griffith with 2lb 8oz 9dr, Second place went to Graham Belton with 1lb 4oz 1dr of small Roach, Third place went to our one and only Keith Algie who seems to know the canal inside out but only could manage 11oz of small Roach. The match was fished from peg 99 to 79 in Sankey Valley Park.  The next Saturday match will be the 16th February 2008, hoping to fish peg 67 to 90  All members must book on with Harry Morris on 01925 266914. 24hrs before the match.  Tight Lines  HJ Morris  <")))))))))))))< 

 

 

Tuesday  5th Febuary  

 Todays match was fished in very bad weather, a very strong wind was blowing down the canal and torential rain. The winning spot went to Keith Algie who had 4lb 13oz 9dr of quality Roach, second place went to Jimmy Harris 3lb 7oz 7dr, third place went to Harry Morris with 1lb 13oz 5dr,  otherwise the Canal is fishing well.  The next Disabled and over sixties will be on Tuesday 12th February and fished on pegs 60 back, the draw will be on Waterways carpark at 10am and hopefully the canal will have had it's new stock of 4000 Rudd and 2000 Roach.  Tight lines  HJ Morris

 

 Tuesday  12th Febuary   

 

     Todays match was fished on a glorious winters day and fished from pegs 34 up.  First place went to H Morris 5lb 12oz 12dr of Roach and Rudd,  second place went to B Holbrook who had a lovely net of Rudd weighing 5lb 12oz 2dr,  third place went to Harry Newton who had 2lb 5oz 5dr,  all competitors caught fish.  The next pensioner and disabled match will be 19th February and drawn at Waterways Carpark 10am to fish pegs 60 back.  Tight lines.  H Morris

 

Saturday 16th  Febuary   

Todays match was very hard for most of the competitors.  After breaking the ice, the top spot went to Barrie Holbrook who managed to put 7lb 2oz of quality Roach and Rudd in his net, second place went to Lee Clarke who had 3lb 4oz 4dr, third place went to Stan Charnock better known as Stan the man who had 1lb 7oz 6dr. The next match will be drawn at Waterways Carpark at 10am on Tuesday 19th February, fishing pegs 60 back.  Tight lines.

Tuesday  26th Febuary   

 

 The match on Tuesday 26th February 2008 was fished on pegs  46 to 60.  The winning weight was 1lb 13oz by Harry Newton, second place went to Stan Charnock with 13oz, third place went to Billy Stockton with 11oz 12dr. The next Pensioners match will be Tuesday 4th March.  Tight lines  HJ Morris

 

 Tuesday 4th March

 After a very hard frost over night the match was fished on the wood length on pegs 8 - 18,  all competitors caught fish, there was Roach, Bream, Rudd,  Perch.  Top spot went to Ray Bowden who was first with 4lb 5oz, second went to Bill Stockton with an all Roach catch of 3lb 12oz, third place went to Jimmy Harris who had 2lb 9oz, all in all a very good match.  The next match will be Saturday 8th March 2008, 10.30am draw at Bewsey, near the Arches.  To avoid disappointment all places MUST be booked on for the match, mainly for the reason that one member today unfortunately was refused to fish the match because he forgot to book on.  Match Secretary H Morris  01925266914

Todays match was fished in very bad weather of very strong winds and blustery showers. First place went to Jimmy Harris with 4lb 14oz 10dr, Second place went to Ray Bowden with 3lb 3oz, Third place went to Harry Morris with 1lb 15oz 8dr. Tuesday 11th March

 

  Todays match was fished in bad conditions with the wind going down the canal and the rain bouncing but the fish were biting well as you will see from the results.  The match was fished in the Bewsey woods  on pegs 8 to 18,  first place went to Denis Bates who was fishing up in the water for a quality catch of Roach anf Rudd his winning weight was 15lb 6oz 6dr, second place went to Harry Morris fishing castor who had a stunning weight of 15lb of Roach and Rudd,  third spot went to Ray Bowden who had another good weight of 11lb 3oz of quality Roach, skimmers and Rudd,  it was a very close match and all credit went to Denis Bates who fished a good match.  The next match is Saturday 15th March, the draw willl take place underneath the arches at 10.30am, please remember that all competitors must book in with Harry Morris before 9pm Friday night, anybody who is not booked on the match will not be allowed to fish, make sure that you are all members.  Match Secretary H J Morris 01925 266914

Saturdays match was fished from pegs 34 to 53, most compeitors caught fish. The winning weight went to Denis Bates with 6lb 14oz 6dr, second place went to our regular Jimmy Harris who also had 6lb 9oz 10dr, third place went to Lee Clarke who had two lovely Tench for 4lb, the two second winners was H Morris who had 3lb 14oz 3dr and Martin Griffiths who had 2lb 9oz 11dr.  Tight lines  Match secretary.  H Morris

Tuesday 18th March
lTodays match was fished on pegs 100 back. First place Eddie Cooke 2lb 9oz 9dr, second went to Stan Charnock 2lb 7oz 6dr, third place went to Geoff Clare with 1lb 13oz.  The next match will be fished Saturday 22nd March 1 to 18, everybody booking on must bring their Wagler with them incase they draw a Basin peg number and only 18 places are available. Todays match was fished in very strong winds. The first spot went to Magnum who fished wagler and a weight 14lb 13oz 9dr, second place went to Eddie Cooke also fishing wagler with 6lb 13oz 7dr, third place went to Chris Greeham who had 1lb 7oz 3dr.  The next pensioners match will be the 25th March pegs 19 to 33 and will be a wagle match, so can all competitors please bring their rods with them please. .  Tight lines   Harry Morris

Wed 11th June 08

Fished on Stanners Pool

 

In the first junior match to be fished this season there were some great results with a big thanks to the young anglers for getting involved. In showery evening the match started at 17:15 and finished at 20:30 first place was well and truley won in the last closing minuites of this very entertaining match as Darren Catterall landed a 9lb common carp to snath the reach of first place from all anglers his weigh in weight was 14lb.10oz. Second place was Thomas Morris who also had a great time fishing and he weighed in at 7lb.14oz. Third place went to Adam Lake who also had a net full weighing in at 6lb.2oz well done to you next match is 25th of June limited place only.

Dave Noble scooped the 1st prize in this match today he weighed in at 4lb.4oz. In second place was Lee Clarke who weighed in at 3lb.6oz. Third place went to G Belton who weighed in at 2lb.4oz.

Thomas Morris collected first prize fished on the sankey canal he weighed in at 3lb.14oz.0dr. Second place went to Jordon Ogden  who weighed in at 2lb.13oz.0dr. Thrid went to Chris Gibln and Adan Lake with 2lb.8oz a big well done for all the competitors fished in very poor conditions.

Wednesday 16th July Junior Match

Fished On Stanners Pool

In this very entertaining junior match with the venue on Stanners Pool there were some great fish caught and a very close results. a big thanks to the young anglers that took part In this windy competion which started at 17:15 and closed at 20:30 it was dificult to fish although this did not have a great effect the kids stuck it out until the very end so well done to you all. Sam Stead landed 7lb 12oz for first place. Second place was Aron Chadwick who also had a great time fishing and he weighed in at 6lb.10oz. Third place went to Wezley Catterall with a net full weighing in at 6lb.9oz well done to you all next match is 23rd of July and there are limited places only.

 

Wednesday 30th July Junior Match

Fished On Stanners Pool

Another very enjoyable time in this junior rover match with the venue on Stanners Pool as we are now seeing 9 fisherman and from the start the winning competitors was changing from peg to peg. As the match progressed the junior anglers fished with all their concentration and they enjoyed every minuite of there day out fishing. The winner went to Aron Chadwick who fished peg 5 with a super weigh in weight of 17lb 5oz he had a net full of carp roach and tench. Next in second place was Luke Bowden who fished on peg 6 he also had a big weight with his catch all roach he weighed in at 12lb 6oz. Third place went to Jordan Hogden who fished on peg 3 and weighed in at 9lb 14oz he had a net full of tench and roach. A big well done to you all for taking part and we hope to see you at the Sankey V's Oldhall match on Sunday at the Waterways carpark at 09:15.
